Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?
It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life." First, many thanks to Kensington for providing me with a review copy of this book.
Quick Review...for when I don't have a lot to say:
I honestly wasn't sure I was going to get to the part where I actually read this book. I got it from the publisher before I knew that it was the third in a series, and it sat on my shelf until my library purchased the first two books. I should have done my research better.
I also wasn't sure I'd continue reading after the second book. I quite enjoyed the first one, Touch of Frost, but Kiss of Frost didn't quite do it for me. I very nearly quit the series. I felt obligated to at least try, however, because of Kensington's generosity.
Folks, I'm glad I did. This is one series that suffered a sophomore slump, but comes back fighting in the third book. I enjoyed Dark Frost a lot. The action was exactly what I'd been hoping for, as were the relationships. Nothing was cut and dry. Gwen really had to fight hard for things/answers. She struggled and I feel like she experienced more growth this time 'round. I didn't like her much in the second book. She was whiny and immature. I'm happy to say that I feel like she started to overcome that here.
This is a series with loads of cool things yet to come. I'm anxious for the fourth book, Crimson Frost! 3.5 Eiffel Towers to Dark Frost.
