From Goodreads: She should not exist.
He should not love her.
Claire Brennan has been attending Emerson Academy for two years now (the longest she and her mom have remained anywhere) and she's desperate to stay put for the rest of high school. So there's no way she's going to tell her mom about the psychic visions she's been having or the creepy warnings that she's in danger.
Alec MacKenzie is fed up with his duties to watch and, when necessary, eliminate the descendants of his angelic forefathers. He chose Emerson as the ideal hiding place where he could be normal for once. He hadn't factored Claire into his plans. . . .
Their love is forbidden, going against everything Alec has been taught to believe. But when the reason behind Claire's unusual powers is revealed and the threat to her life becomes clear, how far will Alec go to protect her?
I found this one on my library shelf. I hadn't ever heard of it before, but it looked interesting. My interest in angel books was renewed by Cynthia Hand, so I thought I'd keep going with the genre.

I worried a little bit about the dual author situation. I've read a couple other books like this and the writing was lacking. No worries here though. I found it absolutely seamless. I couldn't tell where Syrie began and Ryan ended. There was no break in style to indicate that there was a new person writing. Seriously well done, James writing team.

I enjoyed the story, though there were the same elements as in other books. I felt like there were enough original things to make it not feel like the same old thing. It was a very easy read and an enjoyable one. Again, well done.

Character-wise, I think my favorite characters were Brian and Erica. They were just awesome. Sidekick best friends who seriously rocked the book. I felt like they had more depth than Claire did, though I didn't ever dislike Claire. I just found her kind of bland and typical. Alec was hot (of course), which I didn't mind at all. Hot man with a Scottish accent? Yes, please. I liked Neil too. He was a nice addition, even as part of a love triangle (which didn't bother me! Success!).

Overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to more books in the series. It was pretty 'drool-worthy'!
