Armchair BEA: Introductions

Since I wasn't able to attend BEA in person this year, I'm totally going to do the armchair version. It was put together by the fantastic folks at Armchair BEA. If you're interested in participating, click on the link and sign up!

Without further ado, here are my introductory question answers:

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Ems, and I've been blogging for almost two years (June 17, as a matter of fact!). I got into it at the suggestion of my cousin, Ashley (Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing), because that’s pretty much all we talk about when we get together. What’s the best book ever? What’s the next great read? Yeah, we covered it all.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I’m currently reading a bunch of books: The Power of Six (Pittacus Lore), Cinnamon Roll Murder (Joanne Fluke), Forbidden (Syrie James & Ryan James), Allegiance (Cayla Kluver), The Girl in the Clockwork Collar (Kady Cross), Loving Summer (Kailin Gow), Shadowspell (Jenna Black), Spells (Aprilynne Pike), Wrecked (Carol Higgins Clark), Wrecked (Anna Davies). I get bored if I’m not in the middle of several books at once.

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
I’m currently working on a second Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. My first BA is in Archaeology, but I don’t like the outdoors.

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
I really like doing my Special for Sundays meme, which I started with one of my best friends. It’s nice to have a post I can definitely count on every week and that I can write well in advance. We talk about favorite books, favorite authors, books everyone needs to read, and books on our TBR lists.

Where do you see your blog in five years?
Still going strong, I hope!

Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
Probably my review of The Night Circus. That’s my favorite book so far in 2012 and I can’t get enough of it. I’ve read it once and am now listening to the audiobook.

If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
J.K. Rowling. I want to know everything about her and Harry Potter. Also, why Fred Weasley had to die. And Sirius.

What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
The Library of Congress. It’s like my dream come true…all those books! Also, my  mom always says that my brain is like the Library of Congress, so I’d better go be seeing what that’s all about.

What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?
I LOVE the sense of community and I love being a part of that. I love the support that comes from other bloggers and I love the new friends that I’ve made. If anything changes, I think it’ll only get better from here on out.

Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
I’m definitely more set into my likes and dislikes. I love YA even more than I did before and that’s what I mostly read & review. I’m branching out there as well…I used to HATE contemp (ask Ashley!) because I thought it was all probably only the heavy topics and I didn’t want to clutter my brain with those when I’ve enough real troubles of my own. BUT, I’ve discovered that there are plenty of contemps out there that I’ve loved and that they don’t all have to be heavy topics.

Hooray for Armchair BEA and hooray for the organizers!
